Day 39: The Pressure of June

June 1st marks the beginning of the end…some like to count down, I prefer to keep moving forward. I have discussed earlier about not winding down, however the final month of the school year forces you to prioritize and focus on specifics.

The school has one foot in the 2015/2016 school year and another in the 2016/2017 school year. There first two weeks of June become busy, no other way yo describe it. The goal is not to let that pressure be put onto the students.

Report card writing always adds that extra bit of late nights and early mornings. I have found Genius Hour this year to be something that helps the students focus on the work, enjoy the work, and it provides me that glimpse of wonder and curiosity that can easily be distracted by the heat and summer plans. It is important to keep structure, routine, as well as programming new adventures and opportunities for discovery.

This week I look forward to finishing off with our second Genius Hour build/maker time. What are you looking forward to this week? What new thing will you add into your schedule? How will you turn that pressure into a positive force?
